Decorative acccesories and textiles are one of the easiest ways to add some jazz to your space  - on both a small and large scale. Easy to DIY, textiles come in all shapes, colours, sizes and budgets, as seen below!

If you're looking to add some interesting visuals to your living room, look no further than an array of textiles – throws, cushions, pillows, curtains, etc;  as most textiles can be more temporary fixtures in one's home compared to the larger furnishings, they can easily change as your tastes do. Below we have some more unusual textiles that can jazz up your living room to give you some easy inspiration..

Indoor/Outdoor furnishings

Don't like traditional rugs, throws, pillows and cushions? Why not think about an artsy, unique chair that's made entirely out of sisal or hemp? Technically these types of industrial designs are considered textiles too and are perfect for more tropical climates or for indoor/outdoor combined use.

Neutrals

A lot of homeowners assume that textiles need to be bright, bold and loud – think again! For those of you that prefer neutrals, there are plenty of neutrals that are right up your alley. In actuality, an all-neutral bedroom with white or off-white throws, pillows and cushions is the perfect way to create a homey and comfy space.

You should make sure to appreciate your textiles for what they are – in the same way to how we taught you to be true to your raw materials!

Upholstered chairs

Before you get rid of any chairs, really think about ways in which you could improve them first. A quality reupholster job can be just the fix you need to feel like an old piece is brand new.

This matching reupholstered set go hand-in-hand to create a wonderfully preppy living room!

Perfectly paired pillows

This living room is an exquisite example of how interior details can work together to create a great look together, whereas separate, one might wonder why they exist. The cow-hide rug, dark-green, leather sofa and patterned pillows combined have resulted in an über-modern look fit for Amsterdam or Copenhagen.

Corresponding curtains

With white-washed exposed brick and white-washed wide-plank wood floors, you already know this living room has a great base to work with. If working with bright patterned and textured textiles worries you, fret not! The key here is to choose a bright solid to start with – in this living room, the bright-green couch is the solid to start with.  The dog cushion, pillows and curtains all collaborate wonderfully with this bright green sofa.

Cotton rugs

Often overlooked when it comes to rugs and carpets, cotton is typically left for above-ground textiles where stains and footprints aren't a worry. However, there's not one textile rug easier to wash than a cotton rug!

Simply throw it in the wash, or hand wash and you're finished and have a brand new rug just like that. Forget the carpet cleaner and vacuums.

Think about lamp shades

Lamp shades are another great way to add a pop of colour to your living room! This quirky retro sofa placed in this minimalist living room gives a lot of punch of colour in three easy items! The lamp shade, the sofa and the large-scale greenery is all this homeowner needs to make a grand statement!

Get your crochet on!

Lastly, if you're looking to add some great textiles to you home, why not make them yourself? Grab some crochet and knitting supplies, some DIY catalogues and all the colours that you desire and get started on your next home textile project!
