Everyone wants a beautiful clean home, but finding the time to keep on top of everything can be difficult with work demands, young children, or both!

Keeping a clean and tidy home is paramount for maintaining a good state of mind, as well as for your self-esteem and organisation; not to mention for keeping your home attractive and welcoming.

If only we could streamline the process and cut down the time we spend on keeping the house clean.

Well, you’re in luck! Today we’ll be running through fifteen quick cleaning hacks that should help you to get on top of the housework in no time at all!

1. Steam the microwave

Removing burnt on food from the inside of the microwave can be a difficult and unpleasant task, but if you heat a bowl of water in the microwave first it should wipe off with ease!

2. Wash up while you’re cooking

A simple but effective timesaver: wash up while you’re cooking. Do as much of the kitchen cleaning as you can while waiting for food to cook.

3. Make sure your shower/bath is dry after use to avoid mould

Removing mould from the bath or shower is a terribly difficult job. Wipe away any excess water from surfaces after each use and make sure the space is well ventilated to avoid having to do it in the first place.

4. Store trash bags at the bottom of the can

Keep your spare trash bags inside the bin and you’ll never find yourself at a loss for a bag again!

5. Organise your mail

Papers and mail can easily clutter the kitchen or living room, so have a filing system – this could be as simple as strategically placed basket or box – to pre-empt the problem.

6. Keep shoes and coats organised

As with mail, coats and shoes can quickly spread to occupy a lot of space, so make sure you have convenient storage – such as hooks by the door – to counteract the problem.

7. Keep a cleaning schedule

Write yourself a little cleaning schedule; it doesn’t matter if you don’t end up sticking to it exactly, but it’ll stop any one cleaning job getting too out of hand.

8. A razor can remove paint and tough stains from clothing

It might not be the quickest cleaning hack, but it’ll save you needing to buy new clothes!

9. Use a squeegee to remove pet hair from a carpet

Pet hair can be incredibly difficult to remove, but surprisingly a squeegee can get the job done.

10. Always load the dishwasher

This may seem obvious, but it’s easy to leave plates and cups on the side when you’re in a rush and before you know it the kitchen's a complete mess, so always load the dishwasher as you go along.

11. An extension cord for the vacuum

It sucks trying to find a power socket to vacuum awkward spots, but a long extension cord completely solves the problem.

12. Always keep disinfectant wipes

Always keep disinfectant wipes handy; when you’re in a rush they’ll clean just about anything.

13. Keep cleaning products together

Having an organised delineated space for your cleaning products will undoubtedly save you time.

14. Reduce clutter

Less clutter means more space and fewer objects to clean.

15. Get help

There’s no shame in asking for help! The biggest timesaver when it comes to cleaning may be paying someone to do it for you.

Read on for more ways to make cleaning ridiculously easy.
