Ask any interior designer and they'll tell you that what you do with your walls will make a massive impact on your home as a whole and it makes perfect sense! Think about how many walls you have in your property and how large they are and you'll get a really good understanding of just why you need to make more of them, but what should you do? There are so many amazing options for home décor that you can find yourself spoilt for choice, so we thought it might be good to show you some of our favourite wall finishes, to see which ones you might like to consider. The only thing we will say, is that you might not want to go for glass walls for your bathroom; privacy is a human right guys!

Paint!

Painting your walls isn't a new trend in the least, but it is a steadfast classic for a reason! A great way to emphasise beautiful plaster work and inject a very definite vibe and aesthetic into a room, paint is reasonably-priced, easy to come by and simple to apply, meaning that you don't need to hire any professionals to do it for you!

Another great thing about paint for your walls is that you don't have to do every wall in the same colour! If you want to play with an accent hue, you can have white walls everywhere, bar one surface and add in a vibrant colour for contrast and it won't look too overbearing. Plus, if you don't like the end result, you don't have to repaint an entire room!

Don't go thinking that paint has to mean a plain or boring finish, as there is a medley of different varieties to choose from now! Everything from metallic through to blackboard paint is readily available from your local DIY store now and there are no rules as to what you do with them! We actually love the idea of an entire blackboard wall in our homes! Think of all the fun family notes you can leave!

Stone!

Natural stone walls will never look anything other than AMAZING! For a rustic or rural home, they are basically a must, but stripping plaster isn't your only option! You can now buy stone cladding, which gives yo the look and feel that you want, with none of the effort!

If you like the idea of pared back walls but you have red bricks, not rugged stone, then go for it! Exposed brick walls are a great way to capture a more industrial aesthetic and the warmth that they exude is absolutely beautiful! Get that plaster off, apply a sealant and you're good to go!

You can use the natural stone technique on a small scale as well, to create a breakfast bar or even a statement fireplace wall, or you can go super creative and have some stone, some plaster and all manner of combinations! The only limit to yoru creativity is your imagination!

Concrete!

We are loving the modern trend for using polished concrete as an interior wall finish! Sleek, cool and wonderfully contemporary, it offers such an unusual aesthetic, but we think it will remain chic for decades to come! You can even add a pigment to your cement mix and have instantly colourful concrete walls!

Wallpaper!

Alongside paint, wallpaper is a recognisably popular wall covering that has stood the test of time like a champ and with so many new effects and styles available now, it is making a really big comeback! Interior designers that swore off wallpaper years ago are really coming back around and we can see why! Can you believe that this wood-clad wall is actually just wallpapered? INCREDIBLE!

While it's exciting that awesome effects can now be recreated with wallpaper, let's not forget what it was originally designed for; adding fun colour and patterns to your wall! Geometrics are really big news right now and wallpaper is a simple and effective way to get in on the trend!

Glass!

If solid walls aren't really floating your boat, how about swapping them out for some glass versions instead? It's a bold move, but can afford you a really contemporary look, lots more interior light and a beautiful aesthetic. Like we said though; no glass bathroom walls!
