1. The world of energy

The word Vastu shastra literally translates to “Science of Architecture.” The basic principle of Vastu is intended to connect the architecture of the space with its natural surroundings. The world is made up of energies. Vastu thrives for harmony in nature and prosperous living by creating a balance between the energies of nature. A vastu compliant house will surely enhance positive energy in the home while eliminating the negative energy.

2. Your home, your happiness

Home is where happiness flourishes and family lives a healthy and wealthy life together. Vastu rules are based on the directions and there are rules and regulations laid for each direction. According to Vastu, each space has eight directions- East, West, North, South, North-East, South-East, North-West and South-East. Each direction is dominated by different energy. To bring home prosperity and happiness, we have to create a perfect balance between these energies.

3. The pooja room

An Indian home is incomplete with a pooja room. This is a sacred space used for pooja and meditation. This room is filled with positive energy. To ensure that the family reap the benefits of the positive energy, it is important that pooja room is constructed according to the principles laid by Vastu Shastra.

4. The bathroom

In ancient times when Vastu shastra evolved, bathrooms and toilets were built outside the house to keep the negative energy out. In modern times we cannot even imagine a home without a bathroom. But it is important to follow the directions while building the bathroom so that the negative energy of the bathroom doesn’t disrupt the flow of positive energy in the home since bathroom is considered to be the negative source of energy in any home. It is advisable to consult the experts and follow the Vastu rules before deciding the place of bathroom in home.

5. Precaution to maintain with the direction of Pooja room

The most important direction to build pooja room is in the North-East. This direction is called Devsthaan or an abode of God. North-East direction is also considered to be the head part of Vastu purush mandla. It is the field of positive energy and has positive impact on our mind, body and soul. Now if this energy field gets obstructed by any negative field, it will have very adverse effect in our home which will is almost incurable.

6. Bathroom versus Pooja room

According to Vastu, pooja room is the positive source of energy of the home and bathroom the negative source. The contrasting character of the two rooms gave birth to the concept that it should not be built near one another or pooja room and bathroom should not share the same wall.

7. Breaking the myth

The myth is that pooja room and bathroom should not share the wall. The reality is that if the pooja room is in the North-East direction of the house, do not have a bathroom near it in such a way that the bathroom too falls in the North-East direction. If the temple of the house is in North-East and the toilet is behind it sharing the wall but it is not in North-East direction then there is no problem in having bathroom there. But if the bathroom also falls in North-East direction, then there is problem. Avoid it!

8. The main issue

The issue with bathroom is not about proper ventilation, fresh air or sunlight. In ancient times there were no commode or thick pipes in the bathroom. There was no problem of pollution or fresh energy. While talking about the bathroom, we actually mean the drain pipes and the toilet seats. It is the main route through which positive energy gets drain out and negative energy enters. This ancient philosophy is based on energy and the direction in which it flows and not the physical feature of the home. Flow with the flow of positive energy and flush out negative energy and make your home Vastu compliant.
