This interior was the work of the office Alice Martins Flávio Butti, an architecture and design firm based in Brazil that specialises in the design of commercial and residential interiors. They adhere to a design philosophy which prioritises functionality as well as comfort and style.

This home has a very particular aesthetic – many of the spaces have an almost commercial or hotel-like quality. Let's take a look – you can see for yourself and decide if you love it, hate it or feel indifferent!

A grand living space

The first space we take a look at is sure to be one of the favourites. This dramatic living room features a grand double height volume. An off-white textured wallpaper lines the back wall and is bordered by a timber molding. It provides a strong focal point and establishes a directional quality in the space.

A couch, in a similar off-white hue, is placed in front of the feature wall; while the rest of the furniture in the space features darker chocolate tones. The end wall is not the only patterned surface in the room; a vibrant, striped carpet draws on the hues used in the space, while also adding some richer ones.

Kitchen and dining

The ceiling returns to a standard single height over the open plan kitchen and dining area. Polished stone tiles line the floor; a choice that is both practical for cleaning and visually appealing!

The large glass dining table with ample seating was just made for large groups – it is a wonderful space for entertaining. The kitchen is reasonably minimal – the cabinetry is finished in black and stainless steel surfaces add an industrial edge. For more kitchen and dining ideas, take a look here and here!

Outdoor living

In addition to the cleverly connected interior space that houses the kitchen and dining functions, there is also seamless connection with the generous balcony. A second dining space is formed outside, under the taller volume, while a cozy outdoor lounge space assembles under the lowered volume.

Complete with wall hangings, potted plants and cushioned furniture, the outdoor space is definitely not a mere afterthought! For more inspiration on all things outdoor living, take a look at these balconies, porches and terraces!

The lounge

This lounge space also opens onto its own balcony. The recessed, stacking glass sliders allow for a seamless transition between inside and out. They also take full advantage of the stunning view!

Another striped carpet is introduced, which adds a distinctive flavour to the room, and this time a feature wall is created with a timber veneer, forming a backdrop for the floating shelving and wall-hung television set.

Master bedroom

Lastly, we step inside the master bedroom. Timber flooring is complimented by a textured floor rug in a taupe tone. Rich chocolate accents are introduced in the curtains and furniture.

The space, complete with a wall-hung desk, has a distinctly hotel-like appeal. Polished, plush, and somewhat generic – a nights sleep here may feel like a hotel holiday escape. For more bedroom ideas, take a look through these varied examples!
