This collection comprises eight fresh treatments, motivated by a visit to stunning Archipiélago de las Perlas, near Panama (Central America).

Deirdre describes her inspiration:

I was unbelievably lucky to discover the subject for this collection all on one beach in the Las Perlas islands. Like jewels in the sand were stones and shells of exquisite hues of lavender, rust, gold and grey with beautiful markings. As the stones dried out, the colours became more subtle and this collection reflects this sand and sea-washed experience.

The islands are mostly uninhabited and therefore provide a perfect natural setting of white and golden sand beaches, featuring delightful aquatic elements, all enclosed by a cerulean sea. The use of Chinese silk interwoven into the pure wool designs, gives the carpets a mesmerizing iridescence, which closely depicts the effect of freshly passing water over the beach objects.

As always, each Deirdre Dyson carpet is totally bespoke and can be fitted or free-standing. During the first design consultation, customers can take inspiration from Deirdre’s ideas, but apply their own personal touch through colours and design elements to compliment the individual space. All our carpets are available in luxurious wool or a tactile combination of wool and silk. Each bespoke carpet can be produced in any shape or size and from a palette of over 2,000 shades – making every one truly unique.

Deirdre Dyson carpets can be made to suit different budgets depending on the method of production. The carpets can be hand-knotted by Tibetan experts, practiced in this ancient skill who use Chinese or Indian silk and Tibetan wool. Or they can be hand-tufted in Scotland or Yorkshire, from the finest New Zealand wool.

Deirdre Dyson is proud to subscribe to GoodWeave, the international non-profit organisation working to end child labour in South Asia’s carpet industry. Goodweave works to rescue, rehabilitate, educate and provide vocational training for illegally employed child workers, to help them towards a better future.
