This is a view from the external terrace (with the sliding glass doors full open) into the dining area of this extended and refurbished family house, with the kitchen on the left and the sitting room on the right.
The basalt paving of the external terrace extends seamlessly into the interior, covering a band of the floor corresponding with a long frameless rooflight overhead. The main area of floor is covered with grey-oiled engineered oak boards. There is a second frameless rooflight at the back of the kitchen area bringing daylight right into the heart of the house.
When the occasion demands, the opening into the sitting room on the right can be closed off by a large sliding pocket door concealed in the thickness of the wall.
Lighting is provided by a combination of Secto pendant lights over the dining table and kitchen island, recessed downlights along the edges of the ceiling and by concealed LED strips around the perimeter of the rooflights.
